Stop being a couch potato this summer and get active with your friends at the gym! Here's proof that having a work out partner seriously helps you achieve your dream summer body.

Sometimes it’s okay to work out alone, we all do it!  One tip to get better results in the gym is simple. Get a work out partner who has similar goals to you at the gym. It’s the best way to get in shape and get that last minute summer body we’ve all been striving for.

  1. Increased motivation

If you know that someone is waiting for you at the gym, you have a better chance of actually showing up. We all know that your Netflix binge on the latest Grey’s Anatomy episode can wait. So start making plans with your work out buddy and get to the gym, the hardest part is getting up and making yourself do it.

2. Working out becomes fun

What? A work out that’s actually fun? We’re all thinking it. Believe it or not you can have a serious work out without being serious. The more fun your work outs are the more you’re going to look forward to going to the gym and be committed to going. The right work out buddy can make your experience so much better. Find someone who can keep you laughing while also pushing you to work out.

3. Competition makes you perform better

A healthy competition is actually a good thing because it helps you perform better. Sometimes even pairing with someone who’s more fit than you can increase your competitive side. We all know we don’t want to be the weakest link, so having that motivation will persuade you even more.

4. Bring variety to your workouts

Ever heard the saying two heads are better than one? This is the perfect example of that. Having a work out buddy means you can have even more work out ideas and skills you both can think of together. Variety of work outs has a huge impact on how much fun you’re having, so try to spice things up with your work out buddy.

5. Keeps your ego in check and support each other

Maybe it’s just me, but whenever I start to see results at the gym I immediately get cocky and think I could skip the work out the next day because I already, “look good”. DON’T DO THIS! Your ego will start to go up once you start to see results which is great (sometimes), but having a partner who supports you will push you even farther to keep improving your results.
